Somnathpur temple - A Hoysala fashion statement

December 9th, 2007 · 11 Comments

Like the age-defying stone carvings in the temples at Belur and Halebid, the Keshava temple at Somnathpur too stands testimony  to the exquisite stone work that flourished during the Hoysala times.

What holds the temple up

 Intricate carvings

So there - The difference between specialization and super-specialization !

ISO 1600, very little light - Hence, as you can tell, too much noise in the image. But then, don’t children and noise always go together ? :-p (Pictures shot in a train)

Pottramarai Kulam, Madurai

November 13th, 2007 · 8 Comments

My favorite spot in the Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai is the Pottramarai Kulam (Pottramarai : Golden Lotus; Kulam: Pond) and the long corridors that surround it. The walls and ceiling of these corridors have painted murals and historical info about the temple on them.
With the temple authorities maintaining the pond water (and temple in general) clean lately, it […]

Mixed bag weekend

October 22nd, 2007 · 15 Comments

We charmed the guard at Malpe port Sunday evening into let us through the already-closing gates of the port and hurried to the jetty to see the evening sun before those ominous clouds engulfed it. Saw the evening sun in all it’s glory amidst all the activity at the port. After about half an hour , just after the […]

A weekend well-spent

August 26th, 2007 · 10 Comments

Saturday started at 7am with a stroll through the bylanes around commercial street . The idea was to catch Bangalore before it wakes up to the world. But what I found there was quite the contrary! The place was bustling with activity - milkmen taking the milk cans on their cycle, vegetable sellers hawking, flowers that might eventually […]

Pondicherry beckons !

August 21st, 2007 · 7 Comments

Picture this: A trip down the ECR, walks on the seaside promenade, few hours of shooting, some good wine, a few intimidating professional quality photographers who call themselves amateurs :)  A trip to Pondicherry happened last weekend.
Did’nt shoot as much as I’d like to have, but a relaxed feeling descends on you as soon you get […]

Traffic Signal

July 13th, 2007 · 11 Comments

Was trying a friend’s camera on the bus on the way back from work today. This was at the Marathahalli signal.  Not a perfect photo technically, but I liked the story that the scene tells. Talk about contrast in Indian society! :(

’Duh ouch’ all over from the gym! :-(
