(This will be my new home. For those of you who had access to my older blog, I’ll try to move a part of the blog pretty soon. Try not to be mad, until then)
My friend came back from her business trip to Helsinki. I got a wooden all-purpose mug (I can’t make out what wood it is. But the wood is soaked and seasoned in coffee), an English translation of Moominpappa’s memoirs, a couple of Finnish wooden kids. All 7 Finnish movies I had asked of her to pick up for me seemed to be in stock ! Boy, my weekends are fully booked !!
As the month pans out, it turns out to be a season for gifts !! Another college came back from a business trip to France. Sylvie (an ex-college’s wife) had sent tons of stuff, everything neatly gift-wrapped. The five-year old in me opened it… Some things in you never die. The pack had some nougat, a music CD of Jacques Brel (I haven’t listened to any of his songs with the exception of ‘Ne me quitte pas’) and three French books: La vie devant soi, L’étranger and Les noces barbares. My French vocabulary is fast deteriorating.. I should get to Alliance Française before I lose all of it! Skyping with Sylvie could put a few things back on track.
I buried my nose under my keyboard for a half hr today to pull up the Aki Kaurismaki movie reviews I had read couple of weeks ago when I made the movie list. The DVDs that came from Helsinki have only the Finnish title on it (Surprise, surprise) & I cannot remember the Finnish titles well enough to do Match-The-Following with the summary I had read.
Have been thinking of doing some photog and printing a calendar to make money for a social cause. Would a wide angle lens qualify as a social cause, if I took picture of street children or the crumbling Bangalore infrastructure :o) Well, on a serious note – want to turn in a few bucks towards education/child healthcare. Thinking of a good photog theme. Ideas anyone? (And on a even more serious note, I should spend more time with the camera before I buy another piece of glass)
Got in touch with Maha Akka/Pandiyan on the scholarship programme at Alagappa University. Probably a visit to his BioChem lab and the much awaited trip to Kaanadukathan Aranmanai won’t hurt J I can feel the Nikon thumping.. Or is it me ! Just before going to bed yesterday night, it occurred to me that the ribbon sticker on the gift pack said ‘Plaisir d’offrir’. Giving is indeed a pleasure. That is the last thought I remember from yesterday.
My blog insight: Whatz with the brackets () that I seem to keep using ?? Does it interrupt the text flow?
